A Syrah lover pack - perfect for the season.
You will go through France's most known and premium Shiraz appellations which are all located in the Northern part of the Rhone river sides. Steep hills, only hand harvesting is possible, grown on beautiful granitic soils, these three wines are a perfect expression of each AOC appellations.
1 x Crozes Hermitage rouge 2020
1 x St Joseph 2017
1 x Cote Rotie 2018
Starting with a complex and subtle Syrah from Crozes Hermitage. It's an elegant wine, very floral notes - hints of violets, with the typical local aromatic plants find in the south of France (thyme, rosemary) with notes of dark red fruits, red plums. It's spicy, meaty, cherries and moka notes. The wine has a deep cassis color leading to purple. The wine is powerful on the palate and shows smooth tannins from the ageing in oak.
Secondly, a Syrah from 'St Jo' as we say it in the area ! Nicolas farms organically 2.5 hectares of vines on the pebbly and granitic soil near the village of Limony in the northern part of the Appelation at 300 m elevation overlooking the Rhone river. His wines are the pure expression of his terroir and finesse driven , precise and clean.
Third wine is the star of Syrah - the most premium of the three, is the "Schistes" Cote Rotie. Iconic appellation that started to blend their Syrah with a touch of Viognier to balance out the wine and bring a subtle aromatic to the wine.
Deep ruby color. Nose hints at red fruit, blue fruit and a touch floral. Supple texture with lovely Syrah spice underneath. Round with nice underlying acidity and well-integrated tannin on the finish.
