Guildford Vineyard is a 7 acre plot located in the far north west corner of the Macedon Ranges wine region. Planted by Mandy Jean and her late husband Brian Jean in 1994 they set out to explore regenerative farming through biodynamic & organic growing practices. The vines grow between stony ridges of slate, quartz and sandstone that slice through the landscape making it a unquie terroir.
In 2021 Chris Dilworth of Dilworth & Allain wines, took up the position of head winemaker and has set out to rejuvenise the brand making wines that are fresh and bright, full of fruit purity and that have an emphasis on drinkability.
2022 Guildford Vineyard Rose
The grapes were all handpicked on the 12th of March. The Rose is a blend of 70% Shiraz and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown by Mandy. Once back at the winery, we whole bunch pressed the grapes of both varieties together and the juice was transferred to seasoned french oak and a stainless steel tank. Fermentation commenced naturally in the days following and the wine remained in these vessels on lees maturing until January 2023. After this it was Racked off lees and bottled in February 2023. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no other additives, other than a small amount of Sulphur Dioxide before bottling.
