The estate has existed since the 18th century, it's situated next to the renowned Château de Cheval Blanc and Château Figeac. Château Jean Faure is also part of the Saint Emilion Grand Cru classement as it produces wines with a high finesse level expected of a top-tier Saint Emilion of the appellation .

The estate’s wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Franc, 45% Merlot and 5% Malbec. Grapes are harvested by hand, placed in small crates and sorted twice. The whole grapes remain intact, and natural winemaking procedures are implemented, without the use of yeast or intervention. Long periods in vats ensure aromas are gently extracted to better express the terroir. The wine is then matured in French oak barrels (60% new barrels and 40% in barrels used once before) for 18 months, with part of the wine aged in large demi-muids and casks. The wine matures on fine lees to conserve the aromatic freshness and enhance the wine’s fine potential.

The fruit remained intact in 2015, thereby producing wines expressing great purity in terms of fragrance and taste. They display profound color with excellent balance – the alcohol levels are less high than in 2010 – and the acidity is discrete, but present. Last but not least, the vintage boasts suave, coated and velvety tannins, as well as a dense and crisp finish.

Organic certified.

Press ratings of Jean Faure 2015 vintage -

WINESPECTATOR 90 - 93 « This pretty red offers a very fresh feel throughout, allowing the mix of plum and raspberry fruit, with shadings of singed alder and light spice, to mingle together nicely. Maintains good energy through the fi nish. JAMES MOLESWORTH. »

WINE ENTHUSIAST 90 - 92 « Barrel Sample. Fruity and ripe, this is an immediately attractive wine. It has a tannic structure that supports the perfumed black-currant fruits. The wine’s acidity is fi nely integrated into the structure. »

JANCIS ROBINSON 17/20 « Exceptionally dark crimson. Sweet and satisfying on the nose. Some real interest to this wine; not just formulaic. As well as the sweet fruit there is some attractive drive and a good clean fi nish. »

DECANTER 91 « 50% Cabernet Franc and a little Malbec. Fragrant, dark fruit and liquorice notes. Tannins are sweet, ripe and fi ne. Smooth texture with freshness run- ning through and length on the fi nish... »

ROBERT PARKER 89 - 91 « The 2015 Jean Faure has a Merlot-driven, slightly warm bouquet that needs a little more delineation to come through by the time of bottling. The palate is mediumbodied with quite a lot new oak to be subsumed, but there is good depth here with attractive delineation on the fi nish. It needs more fi nesse, but it could well deliver at the top of my expectations once in the bottle »
